Differential Evolution Algorithm with Grey-based Adaptive Mutation Factor

Summary: With the help of grey relational analysis, this studyattempts to propose a new differential evolutionary (DE)algorithm by updating the mutation factor in agrey-based adaptive manner. By the proposedapproaches, each individual has its own mutation factorwhose value is dependent upon the corresponding greyrelational grade. Since the relational grade of anindividual is varying over the generations, the mutationfactor is also time-varying. Even if in the samegeneration, the mutation factor may differ for differentindividuals. Such a DE algorithm is termed the DEalgorithm with grey-based adaptive mutation factor(DE_GAMF) in this study. In addition, the DE_GAMFis applied to solve the optimization problems of eightbenchmark functions for illustration. Simulation resultsshow that the proposed DE_GAMF could perform wellsearch performance on most of the test functions.
